„Nýbrž je skupina ilustrátorů, která není skupinou velkou, nýbrž skupinou velkých ilustrátorů, nýbrž skupina.“ Takto se prezentuje skupina ilustrátorů, kteří se seznámili v ateliéru Grafický design II na vysoké škole Jana Evangelisty Purkyně v Ústí nad Labem. V rámci skupiny vystupují Bára, Kuna, Pony, Mega, Monte/Mortadela a Adelíná/Adla, kteří se pravidelně účastní českých i zahraničních zinfestů a ilustrátorských festivalů. Pro Artmat vytvořili sérii ilustrací Barbora Kicovová - Bára a Jakub Hrdlička - Kuna. V jejich tvorbě se setkáme převážně s kresbou tužkou a určitou ironií.
Jakub pro Artmat vybral své starší práce, v kterých se promítá jeho uhranutí fantasy příběhy, pohádkovými postavami či legendami, jejichž estetiku přivádí do dnešního světa ilustrace. Jeho kresba je charakteristická svou syrovostí, expresivitou, výpravností ale i jistou hrou a určitým velmi specifickým vtipem zaměřeným na detail příběhu. Oproti Kubovým expresivním kresbám stojí jemná linie ilustrací Báry. Tenkou a detailní linku tužky na bílém pozadí, střídající s výraznou až dravou čárou, nám mnohdy připomíná japonské kresby a jejich estetiku. Ani u Báry nechybí jistá hravost a do příběhů vznikajících pod jejími tahy přidává také útržky textů rozvíjející její vyprávění.
Nýbrž vytvořili pro Artmat 30 motivů v nákladu 100ks. V krabičce se vždy nachází deset z nich. V případě, že vám vypadne stejný motiv znovu, můžete jej vyměnit na naší Facebookové skupině Artmat

“Nýbrž is a group of illustrators, which is not big, however it is a group of big illustrators.“ This is how the artists, who got together in the Graphic design Studio 2 at the Jan Evangelista Purkyně University in Ústí nad Labem, present themselves. Bára, Kuna, Pony, Mega, Monte/Mortadela and Adelíná/Adla are members of the group, who regularly take part in Czech and foreign zine festivals and illustration festivals. Barbora Kicovová “Bara” and Jakub Hrdlička “Kuna” created a series of illustrations for Artmat. You can see mostly pencil drawings with a bit of irony among their works.
Jakub chose some of his older works for Artmat, in which he projects his amazement by fantasy stories, fairytale characters and legends, whose esthetics comes into today’s world of illustration. His style is characterized by its rawness, expressiveness, narrative style but also a certain sense of humor with an attention to detail. In comparison with Kuba’s expressive drawings there are gentle lines of Bára’s illustrations. Thin and detailed pencil lines on white background, followed by distinct, almost fierce drawing, remind us of Japanese drawings and their esthetics. Even Bara’s worksare playful with fragments of texts under her lines that expands her art’s stories.
