Martin Faltejsek pochází z Lanškrouna. V současné době žije v Praze a je studentem Institutu tvůrčí fotografie v Opavě. Svět fotografie ho zajímá dvanáctým rokem. V rámci volné tvorby se věnuje především autoportrétu, skrze který uniká z koloběhu vlastního života a reflektuje svůj vztah k rodné domovině. Také rád subjektivně dokumentuje běžné i nevšední dny svého života.
Soubor šesti fotografií představený v Artmatu se věnuje Islandu, který Martina uhranul už při první návštěvě v roce 2016. Do této magické krajiny se pravidelně vrací a svůj intimní vztah k tamnímu prostředí popisuje skrze rozsáhlý soubor fotografií, který se rozrůstá již šestým rokem. Podle Martina totiž Island není jen na jednu návštěvu. Nachází se zde tolik fragmentů, tolik tajuplnosti a krásy, které si nezaslouží rychlou konzumaci. Ty zachycuje na krajinných výjevech naplněných drobnými subjektivními detaily a charakteristickou atmosférou. Nezaměnitelná energie islandské krajiny je Martinovou múzou, která s každou návštěvou intenzivní a sceluje dlouhotrvající subjektivní dokument o této zemi ohně a ledu.
Mezi největší profesní úspěchy Martina Faltejska patří ocenění Osobnost české fotografie do 30 let za rok 2018 a výhra ve třech ročnících soutěže Czech Press Photo & nominace do World Press Photo. Kromě volné tvorby se věnuje i komerční fotografii, kde spolupracuje se značkami Lexus, Škoda, Vogue CS, ELLE, Electrolux, Bomma, Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week a dalšími. Vyjma komerčních zakázek je i svatebním fotografem.

Martin Faltejsek comes from Lanškroun. He currently lives in Prague and is a student at the Institute of Creative Photography in Opava. He has been interested in the world of photography for twelve years. As part of his freelance work, he focuses mainly on self-portraits, through which he escapes from the cycle of his own life and reflects on his relationship to his homeland. He also likes to subjectively document the ordinary and unusual days of his life.
The set of six photographs presented in Artmat is dedicated to Iceland, which enchanted Martin during his first visit in 2016. He regularly returns to this magical landscape and describes his intimate relationship with the local environment through an extensive set of photographs, which has been growing for six years. According to Martin, Iceland is not just for one visit. There are so many fragments, so much mystery and beauty that does not deserve fast consumption. He captures them in landscape scenes filled with small subjective details and a characteristic atmosphere. The unmistakable energy of the Icelandic landscape is Martin's muse, which with each visit is more intense and consolidates a long-lasting subjective documentary about this land of fire and ice.
Martin Faltejsek's greatest professional achievements include the 2018 “Czech Photography Personality Under 30” award and winning three editions of the Czech Press Photo competition and a nomination to World Press Photo. In addition to freelance work, he is also involved in commercial photography, where he collaborates with the brands Lexus, Škoda, Vogue CS, ELLE, Electrolux, Bomma, Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week, and others. Apart from commercial jobs, he is also a wedding photographer.
