Dominik Smolík
“Ahoj, jmenuji se Dominik Smolik. Když zrovna nekreslím zin pro Artmat, tak pracuji v uměleckém štukatérství. Ve volném čase se věnuji olejomalbě, analogové fotografii, tetování a ilustraci. Rád se toulám po městě i v přírodě, kde pak často hledám náměty pro obrazy a fotky. Baví mě prozkoumávat různá městská zákoutí a všímat si na první pohled prázdných nebo obyčejných míst. Moje obrazy i fotky mi přijdou někdy takové smutné, občas se do nich vloudí nějaká osamělost a melancholie. Takže se to pak snažím vyrovnat v tetování nebo ilustraci, kde se neberu moc vážně a je to pro mě hlavně zábava.
Pro Artmat jsem připravil venkovní hru Hledej králíka. Ta zavede hráče do nechvalně proslulých Nuslí. O této čtvrti mnohý/á obyvatel/ka Prahy slyšel/a, ne každý/á ji však někdy skutečně navštívil/a. A z těch kteří se o to pokusili/y se jen nemnozí vrátili/y, aby o ni mohli/y vyprávět. Pokud se i vy po přečtení komiksu rozhodnete vydat se sem pátrat po králičích stopách, najdete v krabičce krom zinu i pár samolepek, které si můžete po cestě vylepit, abyste bezpečně našli/y cestu zpět. Ti/y, kteří/ré dokážou úspěšně projít celou králičí stezku a k tomu správně vyluštit celou tajenku, obdrží druhou část komiksu a s tím i rozuzlení příběhu. Doufám, že si hru užijete, hodně štěstí, pevnou obuv, sváču, samolepky a pro strach uděláno s sebou!”
Edice vznikla v rámci spolupráce se zakladatelkami pražského grafického studia a risografické dílny PaperCanDance. Nová edice, vytištěná výhradně na risografu, přináší kurátorský výběr zakladatelek PaperCanDance Barbory Vyhnalové a Denisy Milo a jejich pohled na současnou ilustrátorskou scénu. Spolupráce je součástí série edic, ve které chceme spolupracovat s různými ilustrátorskými kolektivy v ČR a přinášet tak svěží a rozmanité kurátorské přístupy.

"Hi, my name is Dominik Smolik. When I'm not drawing zines for Artmat, I work in the art plastering business. In my free time I do oil painting, analogue photography, tattooing and illustration. I like to wander around the city and in nature, where I often look for subjects for paintings and photos. I enjoy exploring different corners of the city and noticing seemingly empty or ordinary places. My paintings and photos sometimes seem so sad, sometimes some loneliness and melancholy creeps into them. So then I try to balance it in tattooing or illustration, where I don't take myself too seriously and it's mostly fun for me. For Artmat I made an outdoor game called Look for the Rabbit. It takes the player to the infamous Nusle. Many a Prague resident has heard of this district, but not everyone has ever actually visited it. And of those who have, few have returned to tell the story. If after reading the comics you also decide to come here to search for the rabbit's footsteps, you will find in the box, besides the zine, some stickers that you can put up along the way to find your way back safely. Those/s who can successfully complete the entire rabbit trail and correctly solve the entire mystery will receive the second part of the comic and with it the resolution of the story. I hope you enjoy the game, good luck, sturdy shoes, snacks, stickers, and takeaway for the sake of fear!"
The edition was created in cooperation with the founders of the Prague based graphic studio and risograph workshop PaperCanDance. The new edition, printed exclusively on risograph, brings a curated selection of the founders of PaperCanDance, Barbora Vyhnalová and Denisa Milo, and their views on the contemporary illustration scene. The collaboration is part of a series of editions in which we aim to collaborate with various illustrator collectives in the Czech Republic to bring fresh and diverse curatorial approaches.
